DISCOVERING THE TREASURES OF YIDDISH MUSICAL THEATER

From the Yiddish Rialto to the Silver Screen – SOLD OUT

at the Museum of Jewish Heritage

This is the second in a series of concerts featuring favorite melodies and newly rediscovered hits with restored orchestrations as part of NYTF’s Yiddish Theatre Restoration Project. The concerts are curated by Motl Didner and Zalmen Mlotek with arrangements and orchestrations are by Zalmen Mlotek, and Dmitri Zisl Slepovitch.

In Yiddish with English supertitles.

The musical rediscovery continues with songs from jazz-infused Yiddish musicals, hits made popular on the Yiddish radio and melodies accompanied by film clips (courtesy of National Center for Jewish Film) from the Yiddish musical cinema of the 1930’s and 1940’s.

Starring Daniel Greenwood (The Mikado), Cameron Johnson (The Golden Bride), Raquel Nobile (Amerike -The Golden Land), Rachel Policar (The Golden Bride), Daniella Rabbani (The Golden Land) and Steve Sterner (The Sorceress), with the Uptown Downtown Orchestra conducted by Zalmen Mlotek.
