National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene

It wouldn’t be a Broadway musical without a love story.

This beautiful song, about taking a chance on love and partnership, represents only a small fraction of the breadth of meaning in Barry Manilow and Bruce Sussman‘s musical. HARMONY spans years and continents, documenting the rise and fall of the Comedian Harmonists and the miraculous love and heartache that led to their global success.

Before we announce the full cast of performers, watch composer Barry Manilow sing “Every Single Day” from HARMONY.

HARMONY is the true story of the Comedian Harmonists, six talented young men, German and Jewish, who came together in 1920’s Germany and took the world by storm. Together they sold millions of records, starred in a dozen films, and packed the houses of the most prestigious concert halls around the globe until the world they knew changed forever. The production is directed and choreographed by Warren Carlyle, who recently choreographed the Broadway revival of THE MUSIC MAN starring Hugh Jackman and Sutton Foster.

HARMONY introduces us to two couples whose true love triumphed over the brutality of the Nazi regime. As Germany introduced more and more restrictions around Jewish life, it became increasingly difficult for interfaith couples to live freely. Famous Jewish singers and their marriages to non-Jews, and vice versa, were no exception to the rules.

These are uncertain times, but love is a constant. We hope you enjoy this sneak peek at the musical and that you’ll join us this Spring with someone you love to see HARMONY brought to life on the Folksbiene stage.
