Bryna Wasserman

Bryna Wasserman joined the National Yiddish Theatre Folksbiene almost four years ago driven to ensure that the company reach its 100th anniversary with aplomb. With decades of experience behind her, she helped revamp and revitalize NYTF and placed it in a position to undertake numerous new initiatives along with a citywide festival this coming June. Bryna Wasserman’s penchant for transforming small theatre companies into leading performing arts centers precedes her New York career in her native Canada, where she was the Executive and Artistic Director of the Segal Centre. There she was recognized with a special MECCA Award of Distinction, a Quebec Drama Federation Award and an Outstanding Citizen Award. She is proud to have received the Mlotek Prize for her contribution to Yiddish Culture. She was a major force behind the highly successful Montreal International Yiddish Theatre Festival (2008, 2011). Some directing highlights include: Lies My Father Told Me, The Golden Land (2013 Drama Desk nomination), God of Vengeance, The Threepenny Opera, and On Second Avenue (2005 Drama Desk nomination).
